Description

The HR Specialist France is responsible for the full scope of HR administration for employees in France, with a strong focus on personnel administration, French labor law compliance, and payroll coordination. This role ensures accurate and compliant HR processes throughout the employee lifecycle and acts as a key point of contact for employees, managers, payroll providers, and external authorities.

Key Responsibilities

HR Administration

  • Prepare and maintain employment contracts and official HR documents in line with French labor law and internal policies
  • Maintain accurate and compliant personnel files (digital and/or physical)
  • Manage absences, sickness, maternity/paternity leave, parental leave, and other statutory leaves
  • Handle employee certificates, attestations, and administrative requests
  • Ensure HR systems are kept up to date and data quality is maintained

Payroll & Social Administration

  • Act as the main interface with external payroll providers
  • Prepare, validate, and transmit monthly payroll inputs (e.g. working time, absences, bonuses, contract changes)
  • Ensure payroll accuracy, compliance, and timely execution
  • Review payroll outputs, payslips, and post-payroll reports
  • Support social charges, declarations, and audits (URSSAF, retraite, mutuelle, prévoyance)
  • Coordinate year-end activities (e.g. tax declarations, reporting)

Labor Law & Compliance (France)

  • Ensure compliance with French labor law, collective bargaining agreements (CBAs), and internal policies
  • Provide day-to-day labor law guidance to employees and managers on contracts, working time, leave, discipline, and terminations
  • Support disciplinary processes and employment exits in coordination with HR management and legal advisors
  • Monitor changes in French labor law and assess impact on HR processes
  • Support employee representative relations (e.g. CSE administration), where applicable

Employee & Stakeholder Support

  • Serve as a trusted HR point of contact for employees in France
  • Respond to HR-related inquiries in a professional, service-oriented manner
  • Collaborate closely with HR Business Partner, Finance, Legal, and external vendors
  • Support audits, internal controls, and HR reporting requirements

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Human Resources, Law, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 3–6 years of HR experience in France, with strong focus on administration and payroll
  • Solid knowledge of French labor law and HR practices
  • Hands-on experience working with external payroll providers
  • Experience with HRIS and payroll systems, SuccessFactor would be an advantage
  • Fluency in French (written and spoken)
  • Good working knowledge of English in an international environment
