Description

Meet knownwell, a weight-inclusive healthcare organisation changing the way obesity care is delivered. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a key role in delivering patient-centred care by managing clinical tasks and supporting the broader healthcare team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing patient flow: Facilitating transitions between reception, exam rooms, and check-out, ensuring seamless care.
  • Assisting with clinical tasks: Taking vitals, gathering patient history, triaging, and assisting with clinical procedures.
  • Supporting patient follow-up: Ensuring records are updated, reviewing test results with providers, and communicating with patients as needed.
  • Coordinating care: Managing patient medication prior authorisations, and assisting with outgoing referrals and scheduling.
  • Performing administrative tasks: Supporting scheduling, patient check-in/out, insurance verification, and other administrative needs when needed.
  • Collaborating with the care team: Working closely with both clinical and front-desk staff to maintain smooth operations.
  • Maintaining exam rooms: Ensuring supplies are stocked, and rooms are ready for patient care.
  • Providing compassionate care: Adhering to knownwell's mission of providing inclusive, non-judgmental care to all patients, regardless of size, background, or health status.

Requirements include:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Medical Assistant certification preferred.
  • At least 1-2 years of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in primary care, specialty care, metabolic health, or weight management.
  • Experience with prior authorisations and referrals is a strong plus.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems (Athena experience preferred).
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • A team player with a passion for inclusive, compassionate care.
