Description
Aircraft Operations Division – Production is seeking a Staff Engineer, Tool Design to develop production tooling for complex aerospace systems. The successful candidate will have 7+ years of experience in tooling design, mechanical design, or manufacturing engineering. They will be responsible for translating GD&T, key characteristics, and CTQs into tooling requirements, designing assembly jigs, drill/bond fixtures, composites molds & trim fixtures, go/no-go gauges, lifting/handling carts, and protective tooling using CATIA/NX/SolidWorks. The role also involves conducting FEA and hand calculations to confirm stiffness, clamp loads, safety factors, and ergonomics, generating complete Tool Design Packages, leading design reviews, and managing tool fabrication.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of manufacturing processes, including machining, composites, avionics and/or assembly, and experience working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. They will also be able to work cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Quality, and Safety to deliver robust tooling that supports pilot builds through rate production.
The salary for this role is $120,000 - $190,000 a year, with a full-time regular employee offer package including pay within range listed, bonus, benefits, and equity.
