Description
GitLab is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead a small team focused on driving non-linear productivity by identifying and fixing high-leverage friction points in GitLab's Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
About the Role: As a Senior Engineering Manager at GitLab, you will own outcomes for a defined engineering domain, build and grow the team that delivers them, and operate with significant autonomy against a clear mandate.
Responsibilities:
- Define and refine the operating model for the non-linear productivity pilot
- Identify and prioritize opportunities for step-change fixes across the SDLC
- Build and lead a small team of engineers
- Drive root-cause analysis and shift-left thinking
- Collaborate with engineering teams and leadership to ensure fixes deliver measurable value
Requirements:
- Track record leading small, high-autonomy engineering teams
- Deep understanding of CI/CD and build systems
- Demonstrated root-cause instinct and a focus on talent over headcount
- Comfort operating under metrics-driven accountability
- Strong executive-level communication
Nice to Have:
- Experience with agentic or AI-assisted development workflows
- Prior experience running a defined-window pilot or 0 to 1 initiative
- Familiarity with GitLab's CI/CD internals
Salary Range: $190,000-$245,000 USD
