Description
We are seeking a Staff Developer Advocate to join our team in Berlin, Germany. As a Staff Developer Advocate, you will be responsible for helping enterprise engineering teams across Europe adopt and scale Temporal successfully. This role will focus on the Temporal DevDays program, traveling on-site to customer accounts across the EMEA region to deliver hands-on technical enablement tailored to each team's architecture, use cases, and adoption stage.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Traveling to enterprise customer sites across EMEA (approximately 50% of the time) to deliver Temporal DevDays, our flagship on-site technical enablement program, tailored to each account's use cases, architecture, and adoption stage
- Preparing and delivering hands-on labs, architectural walkthroughs, and workshop sessions that help enterprise engineering teams build confidently on Temporal
- Collaborating with Solutions Architects, Account Executives, and Customer Success to scope and prepare for each engagement and ensure strong outcomes
- Contributing sample applications, lab exercises, and reusable content back to the shared DevDays content library
- Delivering train-the-trainer sessions where appropriate
- Hosting semi-regular enterprise office hours for EMEA-based engineering teams
- Delivering webinars on enterprise-relevant topics, including complex workflow patterns, AI-powered agentic backends, observability, scalability, and platform integrations, scheduled to serve European time zones
- Partnering with the DevDays program owner, DevRel, and field teams to identify topics and formats that matter most to enterprise audiences in the region
- Speaking at and attending industry conferences, enterprise developer events, and meetups across Europe relevant to the enterprise engineering community
- Producing technical content,blog posts, tutorials, architectural guides, diagrams, and videos
- Gathering structured feedback from DevDays sessions, office hours, and enterprise engagements to surface product gaps, developer experience friction, and adoption blockers from the EMEA market
- Serving as the regional voice of the enterprise developer, bringing EMEA-specific patterns and needs back to the broader DevRel, Engineering, and Product teams
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
- 7+ years of software engineering experience with a strong focus on distributed systems
- Proficiency in one or more Temporal SDK languages (Python, Go, Java, TypeScript), with strong working knowledge of distributed systems, state management, and workflow execution concepts
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical workshops, hands-on labs, or enablement sessions for senior engineering audiences
- Experience engaging directly with enterprise engineering organizations, with an understanding of how large teams adopt and scale developer tooling
- Experience mentoring others in a formal or informal capacity
- Comfort with approximately 50% travel within EMEA and occasional international travel
Nice to have:
- Prior experience in a Developer Relations, Solutions Architect, or Solutions Engineering role, especially in an enterprise or field-facing capacity
- Experience delivering enterprise hackathons, on-site enablement sessions, or structured technical workshops
- Familiarity with Temporal Cloud and advanced Temporal patterns, including AI/agentic backends, LLM orchestration, Nexus, and saga
- Existing relationships in European enterprise engineering communities or with platform and partner ecosystems
- Track record of speaking at European technical conferences
- Multilingual , English required. German and Spanish fluency are a strong plus; additional European languages are welcome.
The estimated pay range for this role is €135,000 - €160,000. Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in Temporal's equity plan.
