Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer - Sydney
We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer with a Mechanical/Mechatronic Engineering background to join our team in Sydney, Australia.
As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will leverage deep technical expertise to solve complex manufacturing challenges, drive technology insertion, and ensure the manufacturability of next-generation products from the earliest stages of design.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) feedback, influencing designs to ensure they are compatible with capable and cost-effective manufacturing processes.
- Analyze engineering drawings, material selections, and tolerance stacks to identify and mitigate manufacturing risks early in the product lifecycle.
- Investigate and resolve production line-down situations, assembly problems, process deviations, and tooling issues to minimize downtime and maintain schedule.
- Provide clear and concise interpretation of engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions to the production team.
- Develop, maintain, and continuously improve detailed manufacturing work instructions, assembly guides, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure clarity, repeatability, and quality.
- Manage these requirements within Anduril’s MES.
- Serve as the technical lead for investigating complex or systemic production issues, conducting deep-dive Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to identify fundamental process flaws.
- Develop novel tooling solutions for fabrication and assembly of structural parts.
- Assess the process impact of Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and define the necessary requalification and validation activities.
- Provide support to Supply Chain in the technical qualification and development of critical suppliers, assessing their process capabilities to meet demanding engineering requirements.
- Collaborate on the design and optimization of workstation and production line layouts to enhance ergonomics, safety, and efficiency.
- Foster a collaborative environment that encourages knowledge sharing and team engagement.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment (e.g., aerospace, defense, medical device, complex electronics).
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot technical manufacturing issues and lead root cause analysis.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Demonstrated experience reading and interpreting complex engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications, including a strong understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with operators, technicians, and senior management.
- Prior knowledge and interaction with a Manufacturing Execution System (MES) for production operations
- Prior knowledge of Oracle (ERP), Teamcenter (PLM) or similar systems.
- Ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Government Security Clearance (NV2).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Production line design and set up including Value Stream Mapping, material flow, workstation and tooling design.
- Experience with work instruction authoring and MBOM configuration.
- Experience with CAD software (NX, Solidworks, Siemens/Teamcenter)
Salary Range: An estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
