Description
We Are:
At Synopsys, we drive the innovations that shape the way we live and connect. Our technology is central to the Era of Pervasive Intelligence, from self-driving cars to learning machines. We lead in chip design, verification, and IP integration, empowering the creation of high-performance silicon chips and software content.
You Are:
You are a highly experienced and innovative manufacturing engineer, passionate about transforming complex ideas into reliable, scalable, and efficient products. With at least seven years of hands-on experience in manufacturing engineering, you bring deep expertise in PCBA and electromechanical system assembly. Your background spans EDA Systems hardware, semiconductor test equipment, or similar high-reliability electronic systems, and you excel at leading complex NPIs from inception through mass production.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Own and lead the establishment and industrialization of manufacturing processes for Synopsys HAV hardware products, ensuring quality and timely delivery.
- Act as the technical lead for PCBA and electromechanical assembly, overseeing NPI and sustaining activities including final assembly, test, and pack out.
- Define, document, and optimize end-to-end manufacturing processes, including assembly tools, aids, and standards for complex electronic products.
- Drive DFx (DFM/DFA/DFT/DFS/DFR) reviews with R&D, test, and quality engineering teams and EMS partners to resolve issues and improve manufacturability.
- Champion process efficiency improvements, workflow optimization, staffing, training, equipment, and network requirements with EMS partners.
- Lead advanced troubleshooting of manufacturing defects and reliability concerns, establishing root causes and corrective actions to ensure robust production.
- Develop and qualify manufacturing processes for high-complexity PCBA, including SMT/THT, high-layer-count boards, fine-pitch BGAs, and power electronics.
- Architect and optimize electromechanical final assembly, test, and pack out (FATP) processes for EDA HAV systems, including automation and advanced tooling.
- Manage supplier and EMS engagement, establish and improve product time standards, driving cost reduction, yield enhancement, and timely project deliverables.
- Support new product introduction (NPI) and production ramp, identifying risks and leading manufacturing readiness assessments.
- Mentor and guide manufacturing engineers, influence product and manufacturing strategy, and act as a trusted advisor across teams.
The Impact You Will Have:
- Accelerate time-to-market for new Synopsys HAV hardware products through efficient NPI and process industrialization.
- Enable reliable, repeatable, scalable, and cost-effective manufacturing of advanced electronic assemblies.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance yield, reduce defects, and improve product quality and customer satisfaction.
- Facilitate seamless transitions from design to mass production, collaborating with EMS partners for optimal outcomes.
- Support Synopsys’ industry leadership by fostering cross-functional innovation and technical excellence.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, driving robust process documentation and operator certification for EMS engineers.
- Influence the future of manufacturing strategy through technical judgment and strong collaboration with engineering and leadership teams.
What You’ll Need:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing Engineering, or related discipline.
- 7+ years of manufacturing engineering experience with deep expertise in PCBA and electromechanical system assembly.
- Proven track record leading complex NPIs and transitioning products from development to high-volume manufacturing.
- Strong background in networking hardware, test equipment, or high-reliability electronic systems.
- Hands-on experience with troubleshooting manufacturing and reliability issues at both PCBA and system levels.
- Solid understanding of manufacturing systems, automation, quality assurance, and cost optimization techniques.
- Experience working with global EMS and system integration partners.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to influence across disciplines and leadership levels.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 35% as needed.
- Preferred: Lean Six Sigma certification, knowledge of IPC/ISO standards, experience with optoelectronics, and background in EDA, telecom, semiconductor, or industrial systems.
Who You Are:
- Innovative and solutions-oriented, with a keen eye for detail and passion for continuous improvement.
- Collaborative team player who thrives in cross-functional, multicultural environments.
- Exceptional communicator, able to convey complex technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
- Self-motivated, accountable, and proactive in driving results and tackling challenges.
- Adaptable and resilient, comfortable navigating change and ambiguity.
- Committed to automation, documentation, ergonomics, and scalable manufacturing solutions.
