Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Electro-Mechanical Engineer to join our team at our Costa Mesa HQ. As an Electro-Mechanical Engineer, you will work on core product development for complex systems, including optical systems, batteries, mechanisms, control systems, and sensors.
Your primary responsibilities will include executing rapid evaluation of engineering concepts in a wide range of fields, identifying partners in industry to engage with, and managing early vendor relationships. You will also perform trade studies and physics-based analysis of blue-sky engineering problems, manage internal and external market research and comparisons, and design, implement, and test of complex electro-mechanical systems.
You will have high-level system ownership with large levels of professional autonomy, leading design reviews, running analysis, visiting vendors, defining and executing hardware test plans, building prototypes, analyzing failures, and transitioning successful projects into production.
You will also support critical hardware demonstrations with customers as needed, travel to test sites as needed, and use first principles physics as a basis for every decision.
In addition to your technical expertise, you will need to demonstrate strong organizational skills, leadership skills, and the ability to read, interpret, and manipulate schematics, wiring diagrams, and layouts.
A Bachelor's degree in an engineering field, or equivalent work experience, is required. A Master's degree or Ph.D. is preferred. You must also be eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance.
