Description

We made history and now we work to transform the future – for our customers, our communities and our families. You'll see your work on the road every day, helping people move freely and pursue their dreams. At Ford, you can build more than vehicles. Come build what matters.

Imagine being on the ground floor of something truly extraordinary. At BlueOval Battery Park Michigan, we’re not just assembling battery systems; we’re leading a transformation. As a key member of our start-up team, you’ll have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to launch a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility from the ground up. Imagine: you, at the forefront of the electrification movement, helping to bring the next generation of vehicles to driveways, job sites and highways everywhere.

In this role, you will lead end-to-end material flow from receiving docks to point-of-use and shipping for direct and indirect materials. You will design and optimize lean material delivery systems (line-side delivery, supermarkets, kitting, sequencing). You will manage inventory strategy and PFEP (Plan for Every Part) including storage, flow paths, and capacity planning.

You will own the end-to-end Engineering Change Management & Control (ECM/ECC) process for MP&L, ensuring alignment with plant and corporate change management systems. You will lead cross-functional coordination (Engineering, Purchasing, Suppliers, Operations) for all part, supplier, and process changes. You will develop and execute change readiness plans (inventory burn-down, phase-in/phase-out, cutover timing, obsolescence mitigation).

You will establish and track ECM KPIs (change accuracy, timing adherence, inventory exposure, disruption incidents). You will standardize and continuously improve ECM processes, governance, and escalation routines. You will ensure data integrity for material master, BOM, routing, and inventory accuracy.

You will ensure system readiness (ERP/SAP updates, BOM accuracy, routings, packaging specs, labeling, and traceability requirements). You will drive launch and program integration, ensuring material flow readiness for new programs, engineering changes, and model year transitions. You will identify and mitigate change-related risks (line disruption, premium freight, inventory write-offs, supplier readiness gaps)

You will analyze and improve material handling methods, equipment utilization, and labor balancing. You will conduct cycle time analysis, bottleneck identification, and throughput optimization. You will design plant layouts, flow paths, and material presentation using CAD and simulation tools. You will lead ergonomic assessments and workstation design to improve safety and productivity

You will implement and support automation solutions (AGVs, AMRs, ASRS, smart conveyance)

You will drive performance improvements through structured problem solving and kaizen. You will lead cost savings initiatives, including labor efficiency, inventory reduction, and space optimization. You will apply root cause problem solving (A3, 8D, DMAIC) to eliminate waste and variation

You will enforce safety standards, ergonomics, and 5S discipline across all material handling operations. You will manage resource planning (labor, equipment, space) to meet production requirements.

You will have strong capability in capacity modeling and constraint-based planning. You will have advanced proficiency in Excel, Power BI, simulation tools, and CAD (AutoCAD or similar)

You will understand launch management and program readiness (APQP, PPAP impact to MP&L). You will have experience integrating automation with labor strategy (human-machine balance)

You will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Engineering-related field. You will have 3-5+ years’ experience in an Industrial Engineering role at a manufacturing facility with manual and automated processes. Automotive or large high-volume manufacturing experience is highly desirable.

You will have proven ability in analytics, problem-solving, and cross-functional leadership. You will demonstrate the ability to execute and achieve results, while organizing and managing multiple priorities. You will have the ability to serve as a strong and confident technical mentor to the MP&L organization (both hourly and salary)

You will have strong analytical skills, quick decision-making, ability to work independently, strong interpersonal and communication skills. You will have proficiency in computer applications (CAD, Microsoft Office)

Experience in Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV), Autonomous Mobile Robot (AMR) technology for material handling, and Automated Storage & Retrieval Systems (ASRS) is highly desirable. Automotive Battery Manufacturing experience is also highly desirable.
