We are seeking a results-driven Problem Solving Prevent Recurrence Supervisor to lead a team of engineers at the AEC in Dearborn. This role is built for a leader who values fact-based decision-making over biased opinion and who understands that the best solutions are reached through diversity of thought and collaboration.

You will lead a team that serves as a critical bridge, working with functional engineers to solve high-impact quality concerns across multiple organisations. We are looking for a "champion of efficiency" who can standardize processes, eliminate waste, and ensure that every solution is backed by rigorous data and systemic preventative actions.
Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Mentoring:
Oversee and mentor a team of engineers leading problem-solving efforts on high-impact quality concerns.
Collaborative Problem Solving:
Drive a culture of "solving together." You will move away from independent-contributor silos, instead leveraging experts and cross-functional teams for data-backed insights.
Methodology & Logic Oversight:
Leverage advanced problem-solving capabilities to identify specific root causes. Focus on understanding detection errors and judging if systemic prevent recurrence actions are appropriate and sufficient.
Process Standardization & Efficiency:
Act as a champion for Lean Engineering and waste elimination. You will be responsible for the process standardization of the department to improve speed and quality.
Workload Management:
Triage incoming work requests, prioritize "what matters" to deliver results, and assign resources effectively.
Documentation Review:
Review and approve problem-solving documentation to ensure it meets high standards of technical logic and completeness.
Executive Communication:
Present quality data in an informative and persuasive manner to upper management. This requires effective listening and the ability to translate complex data into actionable leadership summaries.
Operational Leadership:
Facilitate weekly staff meetings and manage normal business such as any travel cadence for your team (typically less than 10% within North America).
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Software, Systems, or related).
Certifications:
Six Sigma Green Belt certification (or equivalent).

Experience:
5+ years in an engineering environment, specifically with problem-solving experience.
Advanced Education/Certification:
Master’s Degree in Engineering; Six Sigma Black Belt or Master Black Belt.
Technical Knowledge:
Functional technical knowledge and experience with duty cycle testing.
Experience in requirement development and execution.
Familiarity with Ford Quality Systems: FMA (DFMEA, RCL, Interfaces), G8D, DMAIC, and GPDS.
Knowledge of Systems Engineering and regulatory familiarity.
Experience as a People Leader (direct report employees)
Modern Tools:
AI proficiency and LLM (Large Language Model) experience.
Management Style:
Proven history of process standardization and applying Lean Engineering principles.
Work Arrangement Options
This position offers unique flexibility in how it is filled. Options:
Full-Time: Standard full-time employment.
Job Share / TWA: This role is eligible for a Temporary Work Assignment (TWA) classification.
Desired level: 80-90% of a full-time schedule.
Minimum level: A minimum of 60% may be discussed for highly qualified candidates.
