Description
The McLaren Automotive Purchasing Department is a fast-paced and commercially driven environment. The successful candidate will work as part of a high-performing and agile team, with direct report into the Head of Procurement - MSO, Motorsport & Aftersales.
The Commodity Buyer is accountable for negotiating and finalizing production supplier contracts for assigned commodities, mitigating cost increases, and driving cost-down activities within scope. They will collaborate with Engineering and Supplier Quality to develop and deploy sourcing strategies, conduct supplier assessments, and ensure suppliers meet program targets for timing, cost, quality, and technical attributes.
Key responsibilities include serving as the focal point for Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) activities with suppliers and internal customers, supporting risk assessment, total acquisition cost analysis, and cross-functional alignment on technical and quality criteria.
The ideal candidate will have a degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field, preferably with MCIPS qualification. They should have previous purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment, particularly in the automotive industry. Solid experience in procurement or commodity buying, developing structured commodity strategies, and negotiating complex contracts is essential.
Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to influence at senior management level, are required. A good understanding of cost breakdown analysis and motorsport experience are also desirable.
