Description

At Bayer, we're seeking a Unit Lead to join our team in Oxnard, California. As a Unit Lead, you will be responsible for the performance of the Unit, ensuring delivery of operational, safety, quality, people, and cost KPIs together with the squads.

You will co-own Unit results and delivery of agreed site and unit KPIs, ensuring safe, efficient, and on-time execution of daily production and operational plans. You will also ensure compliance with Safety, Quality, People standards, and internal policies, including external and internal regulatory and environmental requirements.

As a leader, you will lead and develop multiple squads (typically 3–4), directly managing technicians and team members and applying VACC leadership behaviors (Visionary, Architect, Catalyst, Coach) in daily interactions. You will coach squad members through feedback, performance management, and development conversations, while supporting staffing, shift coverage, and short-term resource alignment with a focus on squad self-organization.

You will act as an escalation point for prioritization, problem solving, and conflict resolution, sponsoring and reinforcing OnePSS practices within the Unit and conducting regular Gemba walks to stay connected to shop floor reality. You will plan, implement, and continuously improve production processes, driving continuous improvement initiatives and short-cycle experimentation (e.g., 90-day improvements) and managing projects related to cost savings, performance improvement, investments, and integrations.

You will collaborate with other Unit Leads, site functions, and enabling teams (e.g., SCM, Engineering, HR, IT, Finance), representing the Unit in Tier 2 meetings, escalating appropriately to Tier 3, and ensuring administrative and compliance requirements are met with minimal burden on squads. You will take ownership of Unit P&L, connecting Unit priorities and deliveries to the site's overall goals and ensuring the safe technical functioning of production facilities in cooperation with engineering and technology teams.

We seek an incumbent who possesses a Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of experience in operations or manufacturing environments. Solid understanding of Safety, Quality, Labor Relations, and regulatory requirements is required. Strong collaboration, prioritization, and escalation skills are also necessary.

Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Business, Agriculture, or a similar field, and minimum 3 years of experience leading operational teams directly or indirectly.

Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $104,080.00 - $156,120.00. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Other benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc.

If selected for this role, the offer may vary based on market data/ranges, an applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
