As a Field Seed Technician in Grinnell, IA, you'll focus on field production activities across the full seasonal production cycle, including grower contracting, field selection, and crop development.
Responsibilities:
- Operate equipment in production sites, leveraging real-time data to maximize existing procedures
- Perform preventive maintenance and inspections, troubleshooting problems with equipment, processes, and systems
- Support continuous improvement practices and programs, such as 5S, Lean, and Six Sigma
- Utilize Focused Improvement techniques to initiate process and standard work improvements
- Provide coaching and training to seasonal workforce, area trainees, and peers
- Ensure upstream activities, such as field inspection and grower contracts, meet company standards and business requirements
- Cultivate partnerships with key business partners, including growers
- Use SAP and Digital Field Systems to support administrative procedures and document key information
- Maintain key process documentation, including operating procedures and process flow diagrams
- Adhere to Bayer's Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality Assurance/Quality Control standards
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED
- Basic knowledge of IT, including internet, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to lift 60 lbs
- Ability to work varying shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and overtime
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced education, such as technical, associate's, or bachelor's degree
- Intermediate computer skills, including experience with SAP and PLC
- Manufacturing experience, preferably in chemical or row crop manufacturing
- Experience working in a 24/7 rotating shift schedule
