Description

Ford's Propulsion Software and Diagnostics team is looking for a Controls Supervisor to lead the Gasoline Air, Torque, Starting, and Accessories Software Controls team. You will manage a high-performing group of engineers who deliver embedded controls software for engine start/stop, torque management, low-voltage/battery systems, and regulatory compliance across platforms spanning Ford's full vehicle portfolio.

As a PTEC Controls Supervisor on the Propulsion Software and Diagnostics team, you will lead a team of engineers responsible for the software controls that keep Ford's engines running safely, cleanly, and reliably. This role combines technical leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and hands-on ownership of software quality, delivery pace, and modernization.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Gasoline Air, Torque, Starting, and Accessories Software Controls team within the Propulsion Software and Diagnostics Department
  • Own and communicate the status of all team work products in design reviews and management escalation meetings
  • Drive delivery across a broad and demanding scope, including AECD regulatory reviews, EU7/FMVSS compliance deliverables, engine start/stop and power management features
  • Collaborate with global gas and diesel software development and calibration teams to plan and implement software on time and to high-quality standards
  • Manage highly technical staff, fostering a culture of ownership, urgency, and proactive risk mitigation
  • Plan controls and monitors for gasoline and diesel engines, developing future technologies to meet emissions regulations and support new hardware technologies
  • Use connected data and warranty/field reports to identify and resolve top quality issues related to engine control software
  • Use Jira to triage and prioritize a backlog of work across multiple scrum teams
  • Champion modernization and code-quality initiatives
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships across peer product, integration, and service teams

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field of study
  • 5 years of software development experience, powertrain software preferred
  • 2 years of experience supporting critical applications in an "always on" environment
  • 6 months of experience leading and mentoring a team of engineers
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent networking and relationship-building skills
  • Proven ability to manage high-volume, high-complexity technical delivery across regulatory, quality, and platform priorities simultaneously
