Description
In Product Development, we make driving more exciting, enjoyable and sustainable. Ford’s Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) team designs and develops hardware and functional models that provide Best-in-Class behaviour for features like Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Emergency Braking, Cross Traffic Alert, Active Park Assist, Lane Centre Assist, BlueCruise, and 360 Camera Systems.
The ADAS Platform and Sensing Validation Supervisor will lead the verification of ADAS software and sensing platform performance prior to feature application release. In this role, you will ensure that sub-system performance for cameras, radars, ultrasonics, and perception algorithms meet all design and regulatory standards. As this is a new function within the ADAS V&V organisation, you will be responsible for building a team of engineers to develop and execute validation plans across diverse environments. This will include close collaboration with cross-functional ADAS groups and suppliers to enhance the comprehensive systems and feature validation strategy.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and execution of design validation methods to ensure proper sensing system performance at the component, system, and vehicle level across a variety of environmental and cross-carline noise factors.
- Build and establish a Platform & Sensing Validation team through hiring and recruiting activities
- Establish a comprehensive Platform/Sensing validation plan that supports successful Feature validation within Program Milestone timing
- Provide guidance to the Platform/Sensing V&V team, fostering a culture of quality and continuous improvement.
- Coordinate with other teams, including software development, program management, Systems Engineering, and Suppliers to align V&V activities with overall project goals.
- Support vehicle program milestone deliverables and signoffs, including investigation and resolution of Platform/Sensing issues.
- Drive continuous improvement of V&V processes and methodologies, leveraging industry best practices and emerging technologies to optimise efficiency and effectiveness.
- Identify opportunities to utilise HiL and CAE methods for ADAS Platform and Sensor performance verification and execute plans for implementation
- Ensure quality Platform/Sensing sign-off through evidence audits and document reviews.
- Support upgrades and enhancements to ADAS sensing systems, by working closely with feature owners to design/execute modelling changes, regression testing, test vector support, data review, issue identification, and supplier interaction.
Qualifications:
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field
- 6+ Years Experience in development or validation of features in the Driver Assistance domain using radars, cameras, lidars, ultrasonic sensors and other related vehicle systems
- General knowledge or experience developing/testing features and/or sensing systems in the ADAS domain using radars, cameras, lidars, ultrasonic sensors, or other related vehicle systems (body, electrical, chassis, powertrain)
- Strong understanding of V&V methodologies, tools, and best practices
- 3+ years of experience with virtual validation methods (HIL/MIL/SIL)
- 3+ years of experience developing and conducting laboratory and vehicle tests, data collection, and analysis
- Strong leadership skills, passion for quality, and passion to improve customer satisfaction
- Strong communication, teamwork, and project management skills
- Ability to work independently and take initiative when necessary
Even better, you may have:
- Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Controls or related field
- Experience leading the validation and verification of ADAS sensing systems
- Experience in project management and/or an integration role, leading and directing other team members
