Description

To provide support to the operational team by delivering competent SHE guidance, ensuring legal and company compliance, driving continuous improvement, and promoting a positive safety culture across all activities.

The SHE Advisor will act as a trusted advisor, helping to reduce risk, prevent incidents, and strengthen the organisation's overall SHE performance by supporting the SHE Manager.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing independent assurance that site activities comply with SHE policies, legal requirements, and environmental permit conditions.
  • Conducting SHE audits, inspections, and compliance reviews across operational areas.
  • Monitoring the implementation and effectiveness of risk controls developed by operational teams.
  • Supporting operational teams in the investigation of accidents, near misses, and environmental incidents.
  • Supporting preparation for regulatory inspections, customer audits, and certification audits.
  • Maintaining SHE management system documentation and records.
  • Tracking corrective actions to ensure effective closure and organisational learning.

The SHE Advisor will also support the implementation and continual improvement of the site Environmental Management System in accordance with ISO 14001 and the site Energy Management System in accordance with ISO 50001.

Additionally, the role involves coaching and supporting managers and supervisors in fulfilling their SHE responsibilities, providing guidance on risk management, safe systems of work, and environmental compliance, and challenging unsafe practices and supporting operational teams to identify practical solutions.

The SHE Advisor will promote a positive safety and environmental culture across the site, support safety campaigns, behavioural safety initiatives, and workforce engagement programmes, and participate in site safety committees and improvement projects.

Key attributes required for this role include strong communication, coaching, and influencing skills, the ability to support operational ownership of SHE, good understanding of risk management and compliance within manufacturing environments, and the ability to analyse and interpret SHE, environmental, and energy performance data.

Qualifications and experience required include a NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent), experience supporting ISO 14001, and experience in manufacturing or food processing environments.
