Description

We are seeking a highly skilled engineer to design, build, and operate large-scale, cloud-native systems that power Ford's connected vehicle capabilities.

In this role, you will design and support mission-critical cloud platform components, own services that directly impact customer experiences, and help shape the technical direction of platforms operating at extreme scale.

Responsibilities

  • Stay ahead of emerging industry trends and technologies.
  • Align technical solutions with customer needs and business outcomes, ensuring long-term value creation.
  • Take end-to-end responsibility for software services that drive customer experiences and the platforms supporting them.
  • Design and deploy reactive microservices using Java, Spring Boot, Hibernate JPA, and Kubernetes.
  • Build and maintain high-performance REST and gRPC APIs, documented via Swagger and tested via Postman.
  • Refactor existing APIs and microservices for simplification, efficiency, and scalability.
  • Manage CI/CD pipelines using GitHub, Argo, SonarQube, and Fossa.
  • Implement Canary deployment strategies to ensure seamless updates in production critical environments.
  • Execute API Load and Performance (L&P) testing to validate system resiliency.
  • Monitor platform health using Datadog, Prometheus, and Grafana.
  • Participate in AI-driven anomaly detection and automated incident diagnostics.
  • Support critical applications in an 'always-on' production environment.
  • Participate in whiteboard sessions and architectural discussions to gather requirements and design solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on end-to-end integration, testing, and issue triage efforts.
  • Identify opportunities to adopt new technologies that solve current needs and anticipate future challenges.
  • Stay current on industry trends and contribute to the technical direction of the team while maintaining a customer-centric focus.
  • Establish best practices with team members to maximize efficiency and minimize risk.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years of progressive experience in cloud-based software development.
  • 3+ years of experience designing, deploying, and supporting cloud-based solutions in production environments.
  • 3+ years of experience understanding of API design and integration patterns to enable seamless system and data exchange.
  • 3+ years of experience supporting mission-critical, always-on applications with high reliability, availability, and performance requirements.
  • 3+ years of hands-on expertise with GCP or AWS and cloud-native services including Cloud Run, Pub/Sub / MSK, Apigee / Tyk, Observability technologies and container orchestration platforms such as GKE, EKS, or Kubernetes.
