Senior Manager, Software Engineering

Anduril Industries is seeking a Senior Manager, Software Engineering to lead groups of teams in delivering software integrated into its products.

The successful candidate will independently lead groups of teams to deliver a variety of software integrated into Anduril's products, including autonomy, simulation, data processing, payload integration, and off-board command and control or decision support.

Key responsibilities:

• Collaborate with Technical Leads and other managers to design and deliver on a multi-year, multi-stakeholder software roadmap
• Manage architecture selection and design for robotic systems
• Influence the design and development of a company-wide roadmap for software inputs to autonomous systems
• Manage a group of teams that develop software that runs on- and off-platform
• Act as a subject matter expert for software engineering
• Drive the design and implementation of development processes for software delivery
• Build and manage a 12-36 month roadmap for the group
• Manage an allocated budget and programmatic risk
• Lead by example as a technically competent leader
• Contribute to the development of organizational vision and strategy
• Define, document, and communicate goals and plans for the group
• Build and manage subordinate teams and managers
• Work as a leader of a multi-disciplinary engineering group
• Report to a manager who typically will not have a background in software engineering
• Travel to co-locate with end-users and/or other teams up to 20% of the time

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a relevant field
• Experience in a senior management position within a high-performing technology organization
• Extensive professional experience working as a Software Engineer
• Capacity to lead a group that works holistically on software-enabled capabilities
• Capacity to act as the owner for a software platform spanning multiple integrated products
• Ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Government Security Clearance

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience in a senior role for the delivery of a military mission system and/or autonomous vehicle
• Experience writing backend services or embedded software in C, C++, Rust, and/or Go
• Experience working with a RTOS
• Experience with the design, implementation, and operation of horizontally scaled cloud technologies
• Familiarity with communications busses and protocols
• Experience with development of high-assurance safety-critical software
• Experience in design and development of embedded applications in autonomous vehicle software systems
