Description

Elastic, the Search AI Company, enables everyone to find the answers they need in real time, using all their data, at scale , unleashing the potential of businesses and people.

We're looking for a Software Engineer II to join the Platform Admin UX team and help shape the experience for administrators across Elastic Cloud.

The ideal candidate is a full-stack engineer equally at home writing React components, designing backend services, and operating what they build once it's live. You can work autonomously, drive decisions and results in a distributed team by leveraging asynchronous, direct, and transparent communication.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and ship full-stack product features, from React UI through the backend services that support them.
  • Own end-to-end delivery across multiple product variants and environments, using feature flags to gate incomplete work and ensure every release remains stable and deployable.
  • Operate services in production: participate in the release rotation, triage alerts, and maintain continuous delivery and quality gates.
  • Collaborate with product management and UX/UI designers to ensure admin experiences align with business goals; translate design prototypes into polished, accessible interfaces.
  • Conduct code reviews that uphold engineering standards, drive architectural improvements, advocate for automated testing, and provide constructive feedback that raises quality across the team.
  • Keep the platform safe and current: review dependency upgrades, investigate security vulnerabilities, manage feature flags, and extend synthetic test coverage when behavior changes.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of full-stack development experience with React, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • Comfortable with Redux-style state patterns and modern data-fetching, with sound judgment about sharing vs. specializing UI across product variants.
  • Proven ownership of Node.js services in production: HTTP APIs, auth/session boundaries, configuration management, and debugging real incidents from logs, metrics, and traces.
  • Proficient with AI development tools (e.g. Cursor, Claude, or equivalent); you actively look for opportunities to accelerate your own workflow and the team's , while maintaining code quality and owning the outcomes.
  • Operational maturity , you have been on-call for a user-facing service, used runbooks and SLOs, and treat continuous delivery, feature flags, and automated tests as first-class parts of the feature.
  • Testing discipline using React Testing Library (or equivalent) and E2E/synthetics for critical paths; you write tests that protect behavior across environments without blocking release velocity.
  • Experience with DevOps practices and tooling; comfort in a multi-environment, compliance-aware product matrix , recognizing blast radius and shipping carefully behind flags.
  • Solid communicator and collaborator: you write clearly, give constructive code reviews, mentor peers, and work successfully with product and design.
  • Eligible to work in Department of Defense (DoD) Impact Level 4 or above cloud service environments.

Benefits

  • Competitive pay based on the work you do here and not your previous salary
  • Health coverage for you and your family in many locations
  • Ability to craft your calendar with flexible locations and schedules for many roles
  • Generous number of vacation days each year
  • Increase your impact - We match up to $2000 (or local currency equivalent) for financial donations and service
  • Up to 40 hours each year to use toward volunteer projects you love
  • Embracing parenthood with minimum of 16 weeks of parental leave
