Description
Join Ford's Electric Vehicles, Digital and Design (EVDD) team as a Manager of Range & Performance. In this role, you will lead trade-off studies for vehicle and HV architecture, lead and hire a world-class team to develop, modify, and correlate physics-based models for the vehicle and subsystems that accurately predict vehicle performance.
As the Manager of Range & Performance, you will work closely across functional teams to identify gains in efficiency and model/predict and test them. Your optimization will fight physics to find the most desirable outcome for the vehicle and our customers.
Responsibilities:
- Lead Range & performance studies for Advanced EV
- Plan workstreams that to deliver range & performance targets for program
- Create and modify tools of different fidelity for range and performance prediction
- Develop sensitivity analyses to understand the design space and tradeoffs
- Hire and lead a world-class team of Range & Performance engineers
- Create vehicle-aligned component and system targets for function, cost, weight and more
- Data processing and model improvements with on-road vehicle usage data and homologation cycles
- Lead and contribute to design reviews, test plans, and requirements reviews to further optimize vehicle efficiency and performance cross-functionally
- Enable effective communications with subsystems and other engineering teams to deliver optimal design solutions
- Lead presentations of concepts and status to senior management and internally to Company personnel in an integration and subject matter expert role
- Support Software in the Loop strategies and execution
Qualifications:
- B.S. in Aerodynamics/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
- 7+ years of experience of developing physics-based models and an understanding of how that relates to vehicle performance
- 1+ year of experience homologating and launching a new product
- 2+ years of leading a team
- High proficiency in any of Python/Matlab/Simulink/Dymola
Even better, you may have:
- Masters or PhD Aerodynamics/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related field
- Experience with controls strategies for vehicle powertrain/dynamics systems
- Experience with Microsoft Office, Confluence, and Jira applications
- Experience with instrumentation and measurement of homologation cycles
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- An eagerness to work cross-functionally in a dynamic environment where you are part of a high-performing team

Salary:
This position is a leadership level 5 and ranges from $163,080-308,880.
