Description

We're looking for a Lighting Engineer to join our team at Ford Motor Company. As a Lighting Engineer, you will be responsible for leading and driving a cross-functional team that includes lighting engineers, systems engineers, lighting suppliers, studio, purchasing, manufacturing, and quality functions. Your primary focus will be on developing and implementing exterior lighting solutions for our vehicles, ensuring they meet regulatory requirements and exceed customer expectations.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement exterior lighting solutions for our vehicles, including headlamps, taillights, and interior lighting.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of lighting systems with other vehicle components.
  • Conduct design reviews and provide feedback to ensure that lighting solutions meet regulatory requirements and customer expectations.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and requirements, and adapt lighting solutions accordingly.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Optical, or other relevant discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in lighting or ADAS sensor protection applications.
  • Strong understanding of lighting systems, including design, development, and testing.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Optical engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in lighting applications.
  • Familiarity with Design For Six Sigma process.
  • Experience with DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
  • Knowledge of plastic materials, plastic injection molding, optics, basic electrical/electronic circuitry, lamp manufacturing processes, tooling, fixture design, and product validation.
  • Knowledge of global lighting regulations.
