We are seeking a highly skilled Equipment Design Senior Engineer to join our team at American Honda Motor Company in Marysville, Ohio. As a Senior Engineer, you will lead the development of engineering solutions and deliver early planning with agility and cost competitiveness across Product, Process, and Tooling to improve North American manufacturing characteristics.
Job Purpose: At this job level, you are expected to lead the development of engineering solutions and deliver early planning with agility and cost competitiveness across Product, Process, and Tooling to improve North American manufacturing characteristics. You will handle multiple projects simultaneously and oversee and develop other engineers.
Key Accountabilities:
- Lead advanced Body Frame Weld equipment feasibility studies for New Model Body in White construction from styling sketch through 1st drawing issue
- Create strategy and plans for study, specification, and equipment concept
- Report New Model equipment content to Project Leadership and Business Unit Management
- Lead Manufacturing Weld New Model equipment verification checklist requirements and drawing maturation across North America DEBQ functions
- Conceive and lead the development of New Model Weld Equipment specifications and process plans to 1st Plan
- Provide direct technical guidance and oversight to downstream customers to ensure successful design and production deliverables are met
- Monitor Design Change through drawing maturation
- Support complex manufacturing category problem analysis, determine root causes, recommend corrective action, and set SAP (Specific Action Plan) in the New Model development
- Research and influence the future path of development methods and processes
- Provide mentoring, coaching, and technical guidance to less experienced engineers
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (e.g., Mechanical or Industrial) or equivalent related experience
- 5+ years of Engineering experience, expert knowledge of Equipment/Tool New Model and expert knowledge of Honda Production facilities preferred
- Expert knowledge of Honda New Model development and Manufacturing
- Expert of Body in White construction
- Problem-solving analysis and breakdown to root cause
