Technical Service Chemist

We are seeking a Technical Service Chemist to join our Industrial Division team at our headquarters in Harvey, IL. As a Technical Service Chemist, you will provide technical assistance and support in the operation and use of metalworking fluids and lubricants. Your responsibilities will include utilization of Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), generating and reporting technical data, reviewing trend analysis data, supporting sales teams, and maintaining laboratory equipment.

Key responsibilities:

• Utilize LIMS in conjunction with global colleagues
• Generate and report technical data to support troubleshooting analyses and new business opportunities
• Review and comment on trend analysis data generated by technicians for Fuchs customer systems
• Support Sales in troubleshooting endeavors, new business opportunities, and quality concerns, including customer site visits when necessary
• Assist with maintenance of laboratory equipment, interface with vendors on repairs and selection of new equipment, as needed
• Maintain acceptable turnaround times for routine and non-routine analyses
• Interface with, and provide technical support to Quality Control, Quality Management, Research, Development & Innovation, Application Engineering, and Product Management
• Write and maintain work instructions for all testing performed by the Technical Service team in accordance with the ISO quality system
• Implement and prioritize 6S protocols to enhance laboratory organization, safety, and efficiency

Qualifications:

• Minimum of a bachelor's degree in chemistry, engineering or related field
• 2+ years of experience working in a lab environment, preferably in manufacturing
• Advanced knowledge of wet chemistry
• Ability to communicate in a clear, credible, and effective manner to a wide variety of audiences
• Industrial technical service and/or field support experience
• Ability to approach problems creatively and think outside the box
• Ability to work within a team-oriented environment to provide the best possible service to customers
• Approaches difficult and stressful situations with a positive and constructive attitude
• Ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Desirable qualifications:

• Industrial metalworking fluid experience
• Strong analytical chemistry background
• LIMS administration experience, SQL Server report writing a plus
• Experience with XRF, autotitrators, manual titrations, quenchometers, viscometers, Karl Fischer, flash point

We offer a competitive salary commensurate with experience, ranging from $70,000 to $80,000, and a comprehensive suite of benefits.
