Yard Hostler (Weekend, Overnight) - Waddell

The Yard Hostler is responsible for ensuring that trailers are moved within the yard in a safe and efficient manner using a Terminal Tractor.

Responsibilities include:

• Ensuring effective and safe use of all equipment and PPE
• Completing pre-trip inspections and maintaining energy sources for Terminal Tractors and other equipment
• Maintaining a safe and healthy work environment by following company standards and procedures
• Safely operating a Terminal Tractor to move trailers in and out of dock doors and parking stalls
• Inspecting trailers to ensure mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order
• Performing trailer inventory checks and yard audits
• Maintaining records, logs, and forms as required
• Operating Powered Industrial Trucks (PITs) such as forklifts and electric pallet jacks
• Using electronic equipment to track inventory accurately
• Working as part of a team to prevent yard bottlenecks and improve efficiency
• Building strong relationships with team members and business partners

Requirements:

• At least 1 year of Yard Hostler experience (preferred)
• Experience in CPG and/or Food & Beverage industries (preferred)
• Decision-making and problem-solving skills
• Basic understanding of computer systems and warehouse management systems
• Fluency in English; additional language skills beneficial
• Ability to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and climb
• Occasional lifting of up to 75 pounds
• Exposure to moving mechanical parts, varying temperatures, and weather conditions
• Certification for and operation of Terminal Tractors and PITs
• Active driver's license and clean driving record
• At least 18 years old

Compensation: $21.00 per hour; $3 shift differential; 5% target quarterly bonus
