Description
Reddit is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join the Identity & Access Management (IAM) team within the SPACE org (Security, Privacy, Assurance, and Corporate Engineering). The successful candidate will play a critical role in designing, delivering, and supporting the lifecycle of digital identities, authentication, and access across Reddit.
The IAM team is responsible for modernizing the identity infrastructure, providing self-service identity management lifecycle, and integrating Reddit's corporate identity stack across various protocols.
Key responsibilities include:
- Engineering & Integration: Developing, scaling, and maintaining Reddit's core IAM internal identity capabilities, platforms, and infrastructure.
- Observability & Data Analytics: Building proactive monitoring frameworks, executive-friendly dashboards, and advanced alerting.
- Process & Compliance: Creating and maintaining documentation, audit logs, and reports to continuously improve business processes and ensure seamless compliance execution.
- Operations & Support: Troubleshooting complex production incidents, analyzing failure conditions, and performing root-cause analysis.
- Collaboration & Mentorship: Guiding global, cross-functional partners on IAM best practices.
The team uses a diverse and modern technology stack, including languages such as Go, Python, Java, TypeScript, SQL, and datastores like Postgres, Directory architectures (e.g., LDAP).
Requirements include:
- 10+ years of backend development experience across multiple layers of the stack.
- In-depth knowledge of corporate IAM experience covering the full workforce identity lifecycle.
- Ability to design and implement complex distributed systems operating under high load.
- Proficiency in core stack: Go, Python, Java, or TypeScript, with a strong DevOps mindset and end-to-end code ownership.
- Deep understanding of modern authentication protocols (OAuth, OIDC, SAML) and secure-by-design principles.
