BOAS / Boiler House Manager

We are seeking a highly motivated and responsible individual to manage the operation of our industrial steam boilers located at our Witney Road and Cowley Road sites. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining the efficiency and safety of our boiler operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure the steam plant is operating efficiently and effectively
• Analyse energy & steam flow readings to maintain the efficiency of the system
• Ensure compliance with relevant law and legislation - PSSR, PUWER, HSE & CEA
• Conduct risk assessments and implement risk management actions in a timely manner
• Ensure trained members of staff are available to cover all shifts for steam using departments
• Maintain the boiler plant in conjunction with the Repairs & Maintenance team and/or contractors
• Oversee boiler operators and their relevant training
• Monitor high integrity level controls, gauges, meters, and control panels to ensure safe and efficient operation
• Record and supervise daily operational logs and report any anomalies
• Respond promptly to emergencies or issues involving boiler operation
• Coordinate with the Maintenance team and Production management to ensure smooth operations
• Determine if risks from the boiler are at acceptable levels or if additional measures are required
• Perform duties that include working at heights
• Oversee and maintain boiler system training for all operators

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

• Experience and proven knowledge of shell type steam boilers
• Experience of managing a team of people
• Proactive and highly motivated
• Ability to learn and develop new skills
• Excellent record keeping
• Great communication - written and verbal
• Initiative to carry out daily tasks and manage own workload
• Meticulous, competent, and responsible
• Excellent planning and organisational skills
• Good computer knowledge
• Must be 18 years of age or over
