Description

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our Maneuver Dominance team at our Costa Mesa HQ. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will work on core product development of portable Command and Control (C2) systems, including the integration with ground and air vehicles. The role requires high ownership and frequent collaboration with other core disciplines. The ideal candidate would be practical, hands-on, and a self-starter. High growth potential is possible as well as additional leadership opportunities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Executing rapid evaluation of engineering concepts in a wide range of fields
  • Performing trade studies and physics-based analysis of blue-sky engineering problems
  • Designing, implementing, and testing complex electro-mechanical systems
  • Leading design reviews, running analysis, visiting vendors, defining and executing hardware test plans
  • Building prototypes, analyzing failures, and transitioning successful projects into production
  • Supporting critical hardware demonstrations with customers as needed
  • Traveling to test sites as needed

Required qualifications include:

  • Experience in an immersive technical project (collegiate project teams or professional settings)
  • 3+ years of mechanical design experience in a professional setting
  • Experience designing mechanical parts (CAD) and understanding of manufacturing methods (machining, sheet metal, composites, 3D printing, injection molding, composite lamination, etc)
  • Ability to read, interpret, and manipulate schematics, wiring diagrams, and layouts
  • High competence with, and fluid use of, engineering first principles
  • BS, MS, or PhD in an engineering field, or equivalent work experience
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Experience developing aircraft subsystem layouts, performing architectural trade studies, and evaluating vendor performance data
  • Competency in engineering analysis, including structural, thermal, and electrical
  • Hands-on prototyping (soldering, board assembly, harnessing)
  • Outstanding leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with designing for rugged environments
  • Experience integrating electrical and mechanical subsystems (sensors, payloads, weapons, etc.) onto air vehicles
  • Experience in developing a variety of electronics hardware products (UAVs, wearables, firearms, high power electric propulsion, optical systems, or other complex mechanisms)
  • Practical experience with electrical engineering tools (Oscilloscopes, power supplies, electronic loads, multimeters)
  • Understanding of MIL-STD requirements such as MIL-STD-1275, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-810, MIL-DTL-38999
