Staff Product Designer

Job Overview

We're looking for a Staff Product Designer to lead design on foundational layers and platform-wide initiatives at Dialpad, an AI-native business communications platform. This role involves partnering with design, product, and engineering leadership to set direction for the platform, defining patterns and interaction models, shipping production code, and mentoring designers.

Responsibilities

• Lead design on foundational layers and platform-wide initiatives
• Partner with design, product, and engineering leadership to set direction for the platform
• Define patterns, primitives, and interaction models for other designers and teams
• Ship production code alongside engineering
• Build production-realistic coded prototypes with real data
• Design AI-first capabilities and infrastructure with trust, transparency, and user control
• Build tooling, skills, agents, and micro-apps to raise the team's AI practice
• Strengthen and evolve Dialtone, our design system
• Mentor designers and coach peers on craft, communication, and AI fluency
• Improve team shipping, communication, and collaboration

Requirements

• 8+ years of shipping high-quality product design work
• Experience with AI as a medium to design in, not just a feature
• Built AI tooling to accelerate design and shipping practice
• Shipped code into production and used coded prototypes as a primary tool
• Designed patterns, components, or systems at scale
• Driven work end-to-end without waiting to be told what's next
• Strong communication and mentoring skills

Nice to Have

• Experience with AI-native products, agentic workflows, or conversational interfaces
• Built internal tooling, prototyping infrastructure, or developer-facing design systems
• Personal practice or side projects pushing craft forward
• Experience in SaaS, communications, contact centers, or real-time collaboration platforms
• Helped evolve or scale a design system
• Contributed to the broader design community
