Senior Engineering Manager

At Bayer, we're visionaries driven to solve the world's toughest challenges. As a Senior Engineering Manager at Digital Farming Solutions (DFS), you'll lead engineering outcomes across multiple teams or complex delivery areas, ensuring high-quality results for digital agriculture platforms.

Your tasks and responsibilities:

• Drive results and execution across multiple engineering teams or a major capability area
• Translate strategy, priorities, and roadmaps into clear, executable plans
• Ensure commitments are met through proactive risk management and course correction
• Drive continuous improvement in quality, reliability, and operational excellence
• Lead, coach, and develop Engineering Managers and senior engineers
• Partner closely with Product, Design, Architecture, and other technical leaders

Requirements:

• 8+ years of professional experience in software engineering, with at least 3+ years in a formal people management capacity
• Management scope: proven experience managing multiple engineering teams or managing other Engineering Managers/Team Leads
• Technical foundation: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field
• Cloud proficiency: hands-on experience operating and deploying production workloads on AWS (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda)
• Agile mastery: strong experience leading teams within a standard Agile/Scrum framework
• DevOps fundamentals: demonstrated ability to manage and improve CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment workflows

Preferred skills:

• Advanced knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, CloudFormation, or AWS CDK
• Experience overseeing the migration from monolithic architectures to microservices or serverless environments
• Ability to use DORA metrics to drive operational improvements
• Familiarity with modern monitoring and observability stacks such as Datadog, New Relic, or AWS CloudWatch

Salary: approximately $127k-191k per year, with additional compensation including a bonus or incentive program, health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc.
