Industrial Hygienist, Ford Energy

Ford Energy is seeking an Industrial Hygienist to join their team in Glendale, KY. The successful candidate will be responsible for anticipating, recognising, evaluating, and controlling occupational health hazards associated with Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) manufacturing operations.

The Industrial Hygienist will serve as the site subject matter expert for industrial hygiene programs and provide technical leadership to identify, assess, and mitigate employee exposures to chemical, physical, biological, and ergonomic hazards.

Responsibilities:

• Provide technical guidance to leadership, operations, and engineering teams as the site's Industrial Hygiene Subject Matter Expert
• Develop, implement, and continuously improve site IH programs to ensure full compliance with OSHA, state, local, and corporate occupational health requirements
• Lead IH training programs, support Management of Change (MOC) reviews, and participate in internal audits, regulatory inspections, and incident investigations
• Design and execute qualitative and quantitative exposure monitoring plans for physical, chemical, and ergonomic hazards
• Evaluate and mitigate specialised risks including battery dusts/materials, solvents/VOCs, electrolyte constituents, thermal emissions, noise, lasers, and radiation
• Maintain the site IH database, analyse exposure trends, and translate complex technical data into clear, actionable reports and dashboards for leadership
• Collaborate with Engineering and Operations to design, validate, and optimise engineering controls
• Oversee the chemical approval process, maintain exposure inventories, review Safety Data Sheets (SDSs), and lead the Hazard Communication (HazCom) program
• Partner with occupational health providers to support medical surveillance programs

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, Toxicology, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related scientific/technical field
• 5+ years of progressive industrial hygiene experience within a manufacturing environment
• Proven experience conducting chemical and physical exposure assessments, managing medical surveillance, and implementing engineering controls
• Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and occupational health standards
• Excellent project management and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and specialised IH data management systems
