Senior Data Scientist

The Senior Data Scientist role in the Research team involves advancing Komodo's projection methodology, ensuring models perform well, and earning customer trust. The successful candidate will take ownership of projection model quality, evaluate model performance, engage with customers, and contribute to model design and implementation.

Key responsibilities include:

• Analyzing large-scale healthcare data using SQL and Python or R
• Designing and running evaluation studies and building diagnostic tooling
• Investigating customer questions and reproducing reported issues
• Preparing clear methodological explanations for customers
• Reviewing and contributing to model code and specifications
• Maintaining methodology documentation and tracking model behavior

Requirements:

• Graduate training in Statistics, Data Science, or a related quantitative field
• 5+ years of industry experience with statistical modeling and estimation applied to large-scale real-world healthcare data
• Deep familiarity with US healthcare claims data and the coding ecosystem
• Experience evaluating model quality with limited ground truth
• Strong diagnostic and critical-thinking skills
• Comfort engaging directly with customers on technical topics
• Working proficiency in SQL and in Python or R

Nice to have:

• Direct experience with projection or extrapolation methodology
• Experience with Bayesian statistics
• Fluency with AI-assisted development tools

The pay range for this role is:

• San Francisco Bay Area and New York City: $186,000-$219,000 USD
• All Other US Locations: $162,000-$190,000 USD
