Description
We are seeking a self-starting and innovative Manufacturing Engineer who wants to drive manufacturing initiatives and improvements. You will touch the entire process from DFM and commissioning, through manufacturing ramp and to testing and validation.
The ideal candidate combines a strong engineering foundation with hands-on experience in mechanical and electronic assembly production.
Responsibilities
Process Innovation
Conceptualize, develop, and implement processes and improvements to new and existing products
Analyse production workflows and identify areas for improvement to reduce waste, cost, and downtime
Develop and document process parameters, SOPs, and quality control standards
Drone Production Support
Work closely with engineering and production teams to resolve issues related to electromechanical assemblies and validation, such as mechanical assemblies, CNC machined components, carbon fibre layup, Final assembly and unit testing
Facilitate day to day production support of drone production
Mentor and guide technicians and engineers to best engineering practices to meet AS9100D ISO9001 defense manufacturing requirements
Provide technical support during new product introduction (NPI) and engineering change implementations
Tooling & Equipment
Specify and design tools, jigs, and fixtures to streamline assembly and manufacturing
Manage procurement and validation of new equipment, including FAT and SAT
Cross-functional Collaboration
Collaborate with R&D, Product Design, Quality Assurance, and Supply Chain teams to ensure manufacturability and scalability
Participate in DFMA (Design for Manufacturing and Assembly) reviews during product development
Coordinate with vendors and contract manufacturers to ensure consistent production quality
Quality and Testing
Define and create in-process validation and testing processes
Lead root cause analysis and corrective action plans for final drone assembly and mechanical drone components
Ensure workplace safety and compliance with applicable standards and regulations (e.g., OSHA, ISO, RoHS)
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent demonstrable experience
- A minimum of 2 years' of experience with electro-mechanical manufacturing and assembly in a high-quality industry like Aerospace
- Familiarity with final assembly of electro-mechanical assemblies such as motors, drone controllers, antenna assembly or similar
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, or other continuous improvement methodologies
- Proven analytical, troubleshooting, and project management skills
- Experienced presenter with demonstrated communication and documentation abilities
- Ability to work extended hours/weekends for mission critical deadlines
ITAR Regulations
To conform to U.S. Government technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), applicant must be a US Citizen, Green Card holder, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
Bonus Points
- Experience with drone/robotics manufacturing
- Strong CAD/CAM skills for tooling and fixture design
- Experience with aerospace production testing, validation and calibration calibration, thermal/vibration testing, or any other sort of validation/acceptance testing prior to shipping strongly preferred
- Experience commissioning new mechanical assemblies through mid volume production
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as injection molding, carbon fibre layup, SMT, PCB assemblies or CNC machining preferred
- Green Belt or Black Belt certification is a plus
- Working knowledge of AS9100D, NADCAP and ISO9001 requirements in defense manufacturing
