Description
We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team at Martin Audio in High Wycombe. As a senior engineer, you will demonstrate a high level of competence and will have the ability to own the mechanical design of products and drive development to completion.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the mechanical design of loudspeaker systems, including products with safety critical lifting hardware intended for deployment over an audience area. You will have a good understanding of engineering principles and experience of structural load analysis, and be comfortable with hand calculation and FEA tools to validate and optimise design work.
Key responsibilities include:
- Mechanical design of loudspeaker systems
- Structural load analysis and validation using hand calculations and FEA tools
- Geometric tolerancing and tolerance stack analysis
- Design for various materials and processes, including welded fabrication, woodworking, sheet metal design, extrusions, pressed metal parts, diecast and injection moulding
- Mentoring other team members and assisting with drawing checking and validation
- Attending concerts or installations to gain experience of the use cases of our products
- Visiting suppliers or contract manufacturers as required
The ideal candidate will have a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Design Engineering, or a related discipline, along with previous experience in a mechanical design or product development position. Proficiency in a professional 3D CAD package such as Solidworks, Creo Parametric, Fusion 360 or similar is also required.
