Come and help shape the future of engineering and maintenance at Biffa, the UK's leader in the circular economy. As Engineering Manager, you will be accountable for the safe, reliable and cost-effective performance of all site assets at our facility in Ipswich. You'll lead and develop the onsite engineering team, embed best-practice maintenance standards, and ensure engineering is a trusted partner to Operations.
Your core responsibilities include:
- Leading, coaching and developing a multi-disciplinary engineering team, fostering accountability and high performance
- Creating, embedding and maintaining a strong safety culture, ensuring full compliance with all engineering and H&S standards
- Driving asset reliability through effective preventative maintenance, maintaining PM compliance consistently above 95%
- Reducing breakdowns and reactive maintenance, improving overall plant availability and site performance
- Managing contractors effectively, ensuring safe systems of work and quality delivery
- Carrying out Root Cause Analysis and implementing sustainable, long-term engineering solutions
- Planning, executing and continuously improving shutdown activities to minimise downtime and risk
- Taking ownership of engineering OPEX, contributing to CAPEX planning, embedding engineering standards, and ensuring best practice is consistently applied
Requirements include a graduate qualification with relevant experience, a full UK driving licence, and the ability to interpret engineering drawings and principles.
