Description

In this position, you will partner with cell engineers, BMS engineers, and vehicle performance teams to plan and execute battery-cell testing that directly improves battery and vehicle control systems.

Your work will enhance customers' charging and driving experiences and advance safety.

Working cross-functionally, you will sharpen test precision and improve methodologies and measurement and analysis techniques for battery evaluation.

Responsibilities:

Define and document test requirements for cell characterization, cycle life, abuse testing, and other validation procedures.

Own cell-level test plans to characterize cell properties, essential for establishing cell specifications and control algorithms.

Inspect test setups and analyze results to assess data quality, optimizing performance and reliability.

Design cell fixtures to enhance testing capabilities, accuracy, and the extraction of representative, meaningful data.

Collaborate with data engineers to create a seamless data pipeline for global requirement owners.

Drive the automation of the entire testing process, from test requests to the delivery of results reports.

Coordinate software development for test hardware control and DAQ with a partner test engineer or technician.

Present results to stakeholders and cell suppliers.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

2+ years of relevant work experience.

Knowledge of lithium-ion cell chemistry, electrochemistry fundamentals, and safety protocols.

Experience integrating off-the-shelf test equipment (power supplies, electronic loads, DAQs) in battery cell testing.

Proficiency in experience with battery test equipment scripting (AVL LYNX, Arbin, Neware).

Proficiency in Python or other programming languages.

Experience in test planning and management using tools like JAMA and JIRA.

Ability to learn new concepts, propose experimental designs, and execute independently.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Salary:

This position is a salary grade 8 and ranges from $135,420 to $226,980.

Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility, and competitive market value.
