Responsibilities

As an Engineering Specialist-Dimensional Control Engineer, you will be responsible for applying engineering principles and analytical techniques to establish and continuously improve manufacturing processes and products. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Scheduling and Time Tracking: Building shifts, handling shift-swapping, managing employee time cards and monitoring hours to manage labor costs.
  • Task Delegation: Assigning specific daily duties, CMM room planning and ensuring workers have the tools they require.
  • Performance and Coaching: Providing ongoing, actionable feedback to improve speed, accuracy, and customer service.
  • Leading QOS initiatives within the production department.
  • Reviewing quality issues with production team leaders and Process Coaches, and being the point of contact with other departments such as Machining, Quality and MP&L.
  • Coordinating during quality concerns containment actions, dock holds, special checks to eliminate any impact to customer.
  • Keeping traceability records regarding quality actions for future reference.
  • Managing quality documentation on FTT, 8Ds, Scrap, Dock Holds, Dock Audit, etc.
  • Participating in Quality and Contamination audits.
  • Preparing standard reports for Quality reviews within the plant and with other areas.
  • Reviewing rejected parts for quality integrity and deciding next steps.
  • Leading cross-functional team initiatives in quality to achieve no faults forward / zero defects.
  • Leading 8D resolution of Warranty and VO concerns working together with Quality, MP&L, Machining and VO.
  • Coordinating Green and Black Belt projects within the department.
  • Working with QLSCM, Quality Works, OBL, CDCII and other required systems
  • Documenting and controlling error proofing checks, internal checks, and additional containments.
  • Participating in interplant benchmarking exercises
  • Actively participating in Simultaneous Engineering meetings, Forward Planning and Product Design to ensure MTC process is followed.
  • Applying engineering principles and analytical techniques to establish and continuously improve manufacturing processes and products
  • Implementing interim and permanent corrective actions to resolve quality issues using 8D tool, 6 panel, etc.
  • Managing and directing statistical process control activities
  • Knowledge of and ability to execute measurement systems analysis & variable data analysis
  • Establishing and monitoring quality target levels for each build
  • Providing input for design and assembly concepts which will yield nominal variations
  • Establishing critical characteristics for gauging and measuring data collection methods
  • Determining inspection equipment and facility requirements
  • Supporting expedited concern resolution with cross-functional teams including the Quality Department, Production and Suppliers
  • Reviewing internal/external suppliers for critical characteristics process compatibility
  • Reviewing incoming quality concerns to maintain quality with assigned area; must have experience with initiating containment, determining root cause and implementing corrective actions
  • Completing PPAP’s and supporting new model launches

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • High school diploma
  • Experience in manufacturing engineering
  • Demonstrated experience in accomplishing tasks and objectives
  • Proven problem-solving ability
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification
  • Previous production supervision
  • CMM, ATOS Blue Light Scanning, Creaform Hand Scanner, Polyworks basic knowledge
  • Microsoft Office Knowledge (Word/Excel/Outlook)
  • Outstanding interpersonal, team-building, and communication skills
  • Proven critical thinker and troubleshooter to deliver industry-leading quality
  • Highly committed to process improvement and innovative solutions with a customer-first mindset
  • Strong curiosity and passion for continuous learning
  • Demonstrates inclusion and values diversity
  • Persevers through setbacks and disappointments to drive results
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in related field (desirable)
  • Experience: Previous automotive and Quality Engineering experience (desirable)
  • FMEA, PPAP, and DOE experience preferred
  • Six Sigma: DMAIC and DMADV (DFSS) Project Methodology experience preferred
  • Ergonomic analysis knowledge and experience preferred
  • Six Sigma Black Belt certified (desirable)
