At AstraZeneca, we are seeking a Director, Market Access Strategy for Saphnelo in Wilmington, Delaware. This role will lead US market access strategy across the portfolio, shaping how patients, providers, and payers experience the value of our medicine.
Working closely with Market Access, Medical, Finance, and therapeutic area partners, this position will develop insights and strategies that strengthen access, patient affordability, and net price, while managing all marketing activities for the assigned product to support company objectives.

Key responsibilities:
- Lead the development and execution of US market access strategy for Saphnelo, ensuring alignment with brand ambition and financial objectives.
- Own the end-to-end access planning process, from insight generation and value proposition development through to pull-through and performance measurement.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to translate scientific and clinical evidence into compelling value stories that resonate with payers, providers, and policy stakeholders.
- Shape pricing, contracting, and affordability approaches that balance patient access with sustainable brand performance.
- Continuously monitor the evolving US access landscape, anticipating policy, competitive, and customer shifts and adapting strategy accordingly.
- Guide field-based Market Access teams with clear direction, tools, and messaging to enable consistent execution and impact.
- Champion innovation in access strategy, leveraging data, analytics, and external trends to test, learn, and scale new approaches.
- Foster a culture of accountability, experimentation, and learning within the team, creating space for new ideas while maintaining rigorous performance standards.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 5+ years of experience in one or a combination of: pharmaceutical, healthcare, scientific, clinical, institutional, or related industry experience
- Including 3 years of Commercial experience
- Understanding of the US market access landscape and the legal/regulatory environment for pharmaceuticals/healthcare industry required
Desirable skills and experience:
- Advanced Degree in Business, Marketing, or Science
- Advanced understanding of payer landscape to assess contracting strategy
- Experience in customer-facing roles
- Financial and forecasting experience
- Proven track record of consistent achievement or overachievement in developing and delivering strategic and operational plans within a therapeutic or business area
- Demonstrated experience in working within cross-functional business units essential
- Strong financial acumen with the ability to assess and drive results
- Strong communication, presentation, collaboration, and negotiation skills
- Ability to successfully lead through change, complexity, and ambiguity in a highly matrixed environment
