Description
As a Junior Research Engineer in Agentic Engineering with LLMs at AVL, you will conduct research in Agentic Engineering, focusing on the systematic application of agentic AI approaches - particularly Large Language Models (LLMs) and AI agent systems - to complex automotive and powertrain engineering challenges.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Designing and architecting reasoning and decision-capable AI agent systems for automotive applications
- Integrating LLMs and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) techniques into engineering workflows
- Developing frameworks for agent autonomy, verification, and explainability in technical domains
- Applying agentic systems to real-world engineering challenges in powertrain and vehicle systems development
- Collaborating with academic partners on fundamental AI explainability and transparency research
The ideal candidate will have:
- A completed education in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related discipline
- Strong foundational knowledge in Large Language Models, AI agents, machine learning, software architecture, or cyber-physical systems
- Experience in LLM/RAG software development with Python and SQL; Rust or comparable systems-level programming skills are an advantage
- The ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in interdisciplinary teams
- Very good knowledge of English
