Business Development Lead - Europe - Engine by Starling

Engine by Starling, born out of Starling, the UK's first and leading digital bank, is a cloud-native, bank-built SaaS platform that empowers banks around the world to build businesses designed to evolve, innovate, and meet growing customer demands.

As the Business Development Lead in Europe, you will own, manage, and lead a European sub-region, scaling Business Development with the support of a focused central team. You will cultivate relationships at an executive level, oversee client and partner engagements, and act as a trusted advisor and executive sponsor for Engine's clients within the region.

Key responsibilities include:

• Driving and defining the end-to-end execution plan of Engine's market entry in high-potential geographies for digital banking transformation
• Developing and managing senior relationships with banking and ecosystem stakeholders across your allocated cluster
• Progressing and closing opportunities using Engine's established go-to-market model
• Ensuring consistency across Engine's messaging, positioning, and deal motion across geographies
• Coordinating with central teams to develop solutions that resonate with the local market
• Providing structured, region-specific market feedback
• Scaling a local integrated team in alignment with the business pipeline

Requirements:

• 8+ years of senior enterprise or platform business development experience across multiple markets
• Track record of closing complex deals that engage multiple stakeholders
• Experience operating within centrally governed or matrixed organisations
• Banking or regulated industry exposure is strongly preferred
• Existing, trusted relationships with bank executives within the region
• Experience in managing and scaling teams

Skills:

• Fluent English language skills
• Fluency in at least one relevant regional European language (e.g., French, German, Spanish, Polish)
• Collaborative and purpose-focused individual with strong stakeholder management skills
