Description
We are seeking a Library Page to join the Henry W. and Albert A. Berg Collection of English and American Literature at the New York Public Library.
As a Library Page, you will have access to a wealth of knowledge and experience, allowing you to decide if a career in libraries is right for you.
The Library Page position is scheduled for 19 hours per week, including Saturdays, and involves working with rare books, manuscripts, and archives.
Key Responsibilities
Under the direction of a Page supervisor, the Library Page will:
- Move collection material to and from storage areas
- Perform shelf reading and maintain the organization and appearance of the library
- Work on collection-based projects, such as rehousing and retrieving archival material
- Prepare the library for opening and closing
- Support digitization for research requests
- Perform other related duties as required
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise Required
- Current enrollment in a degree program at an accredited school
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail, speed, and accuracy
- Ability to sort efficiently in alphabetical, numerical, or alphanumeric order
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and internet proficiency
- Demonstrated ability to work with a team and on independent projects
- Flexibility and reliability

Physical Duties
- Frequent moving and transporting of library materials
