The Cockpit & Trim Engineering Supervisor is responsible for leading and managing a team of Body Interior Design & Release Engineers, ensuring the efficient and timely development, validation, and release of Body Interior components and systems.

Responsibilities

People

  • Establishes technical performance standards for the Design and Release team aligned with upcoming priorities and workloads.
  • Ensures training and mentoring exist for all function engineers to achieve the right technical standards.
  • Develops people – leads, guides, teaches, and improves technical knowledge based on Body Interior Technical Maintenance Manual.
  • Responsible for the development and maintenance of succession plans.

Product

  • Ensures Body Interior FoM and FNA function-led program objectives achieve corporate Best In Ford and Best In Class standards.
  • Pursues and encourages the effective and efficient use of cross-functional forums to drive critical program decisions.
  • Ensures Body Interior product designs are feasible for manufacturing and installation; capable of meeting customer requirements supporting systemic, functional, and reviews and resolution efforts.
  • Ensures Studio Feasibility, PDL accuracy, BOM accuracy is achieved within Body Interior commodities.
  • Ensures support to AIMS, WERS, and OTG processes as related to the function.
  • Supports Body Interior Technical Design Review process.
  • Supports the function's progress through the design, release, and validation processes of Body Interior subsystems/components in time for production tooling release and vehicle launch.
  • Reviews/approves engineering change notices and alerts.
  • Supports build/launches and resolution of identified design issues.

Process

  • Manages headcount to deliver programs accordingly.
  • Supervises that all function engineers have proper working tools (computers, software, and equipment).
  • Manages function activities and direct reports' information related to Ford systems.
  • Ensures the department's objectives are assigned to its subordinates and meet the strategic needs of the organization.

Supplier Relationships

  • Constantly drives support to have the best functional suppliers and ensures their departmental and organizational selection strategy is adequately voiced/represented by the function requirements.
  • High-impact Body Interior suppliers' visits support to review control plans and development of new programs in accordance with Purchasing and STA towards Matched Pair Reviews.
  • Supports approval of Supplier Request for Engineering Authorization documents, communication/approval of supplier SCCAF forms, and approval of supplier control plans/FMEA's.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Materials Science, or a closely related engineering field.
  • 5+ years in leading the execution of body Interior components and systems during all product development stages.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in mechanical engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Materials Science, or a closely related engineering field.
  • Thorough knowledge and experience of all GPDS and proven skill of interpreting process deliverables for Body Interior.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts and strategic vision to diverse audiences, including senior management.
  • Exceptional leadership, mentorship, and team-building abilities.
  • Ability to communicate and interact and negotiate with cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent project management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Software and PC usage knowledge (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • 3D CAD geometry, C3P tools/process, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances proficiency.
