Sr. Manager, Payroll

Databricks is seeking a Senior Manager, Payroll to oversee end-to-end payroll delivery for the United States and Canada.

This hands-on leadership role involves running operations, leading a team, managing compliance, and serving as a subject matter expert.

The successful candidate will sit within the Global Payroll function, reporting to the Senior Director, Head of Global Payroll, and contribute to global strategy and cross-regional alignment.

Key responsibilities include:

• Managing a team of four to five payroll professionals
• Ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll for a fast-scaling workforce across multiple US states and Canadian provinces
• Owning the full payroll cycle for all US and Canadian employees
• Serving as the primary escalation point for payroll discrepancies and operational issues
• Driving continuous improvement across payroll processes
• Working with Workday Payroll and Workday HCM, ADP Smart Compliance, and other systems
• Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax obligations
• Managing equity and supplemental compensation payroll processing
• Leading, developing, and performance-managing a team
• Designing and maintaining SOX-compliant payroll controls

Requirements:

• 8+ years of hands-on US and Canada payroll experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
• Deep working knowledge of US multi-state payroll tax and Canadian payroll compliance
• Proven experience managing RSU and equity payroll
• Strong command of payroll reconciliation and general ledger mapping
• Experience leading teams of four or more people

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience with Workday Payroll and Workday HCM
• Hands-on experience with ADP Smart Compliance
• Familiarity with Shareworks for stock plan administration and equity payroll integration

The pay range for this role is: Zone 1: $189,300-$260,250 USD Zone 2: $170,300-$234,200 USD Zone 3: $160,900-$221,200 USD Zone 4: $151,400-$208,250 USD
