Description

Join Ford of Canada as an Engineering Specialist – Process at the Windsor Engine Plant/Essex Engine Plant. You will support manufacturing process engineering activities for machining departments, review CMM reports, and make quality offsets to CNC machines. Your responsibilities will also include performing tooling trials and capability studies, understanding NC programming language, and driving continuous improvement in safety, quality, and productivity.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support Manufacturing Process Engineering activity for Machining departments.
  • Review CMM reports and understand GD&T.
  • Make quality offsets to CNC machines based on the Quality Operating System.
  • Perform tooling trials and capability studies.
  • Understand NC programming language to perform minor machining changes.
  • Drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Apply engineering principles and analytical techniques to establish and continuously improve manufacturing processes and products.
  • Develop action plans to investigate and prioritize quality concerns and verify corrective actions.
  • Lead and conduct process audits to ensure process discipline.
  • Create process and instruction sheets supporting quality methods and processes.
  • Lead variability reduction and lean manufacturing initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with Plant, Corporate, Governmental, and Environmental standards.
  • Support ISO 14001 compliance and internal ISO auditing.
  • Identify throughput constraints and drive root cause improvements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
  • 3-5 years of hands-on shop floor engineering experience.
  • 2+ years of experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma.
  • Experience with 8D and 5Why corrective action and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of Lean Tools – 5S, Kanban, Poka-yoke, and Value Stream Mapping.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in a unionized manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with FMEA, PPAP, and DOEs.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor production personnel and communicate technical information clearly.
  • Adept knowledge of Quality Operating System requirements.
  • Experience with Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, Production Part Approval Process, Design of Experiments, Statistical Process Control, Measurement Systems Analysis, and visual factory management.
  • Supervisory experience as an Engineering lead.
  • Proficient analytical and problem-solving skills.

The expected annual salary range for this position is $85,000.00 - $135,000.00, and individuals may be eligible to participate in the Annual Compensation bonus program.
