Description

The Electronic Systems Applications Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, validating, and releasing electronic modules for assigned programs. This role involves leading the delivery of engineering requirements, managing systems, participating in the sourcing process, and supporting vehicle prototype builds, product launches, and service issues.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the delivery of all engineering requirements for electronic modules per each development milestone, as defined by the Ford product development process.
  • Manage systems like VSEM, Teamcenter, FEDE, JIRA, AIMS, QED, and WERS.
  • Participate in the Sourcing Process, developing ESOW (Engineering Statement of Work), and reviewing proposals to increase/decrease cost.
  • Support all vehicle prototype builds, product launches, and service issues, leading supplier teams to support builds with parts, CRs, and alerts.
  • Manage product financial status, reviewing proposals to increase/decrease cost and seeking approval for changes via the approval process with Ford management team.
  • Be an interactive and key member of the body control module team, working closely with other electronic modules applications, Core Hardware, Subsystems, Software engineers, and supplier teams to support the product and develop robust solutions.
  • Work with the Vehicle Electrical Program Management Team (PMT) and Program Vehicle Team (PVT) to launch modules during the prototype and production launch phase.
  • Support the development of robust foundation documents, including DFMEA, specifications, D/PVP&R, and worse-case circuit analysis (WCCA).
  • Support technical design reviews (TDR) for module hardware design requirements and module interfaces, working with suppliers and Vehicle Architecture engineers to package different ECUs in a vehicle environment.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to drive timely resolution of program-specific engineering issues, leveraging failure detection strategies like fault tree analysis and fishbone diagrams.
  • Develop solutions to revise or add features to electronic modules as they impact hardware.
  • Lead electronic modules configuration development and release effort, ensuring alignment with Product Definition Letters and compliance to regional regulatory requirements.
  • Lead resolution of warranty and quality issues.

Qualifications:

  • BSEE (MSEE) preferred, with working knowledge of Ford D&R process.
  • Preferred skills: experience with MS Office, Vector tools like CANalyzer, oscilloscope, and other troubleshooting tools, and experience with Ford product development system applications.
  • Experience with product and program delivery, strong communication and leadership skills for cross-functional cooperation and issue resolution.
  • Strong analytical skills, including 8D, 14D, 6-Panel, and FMEA.
  • Prefer experience with electronic circuit design, board layout, and electronic module manufacturing.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Engineering Degree: Electrical, Electronic, Systems, Mechanical – Electrical, Mechatronics, Aeronautical.
  • 90% English skills (oral, reading, writing, and listening).
  • Strong knowledge of Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Delivery System requirements and specifications.
  • Must have skills or be able to learn various engineering computer systems (WERS, AVBOM, PPM Audit, Digital Buck, Team Center, Integrator, MS Office, etc.).
  • Experience with program delivery.
  • Strong Communication and Leadership Skills for cross-functional cooperation and issue resolution.
  • Knowledge of automotive industry environment, working experience preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of materials properties and production process.
  • Excellent organization, communication, time/program management, and presentation skills.
  • Electrical-mechanical background as these commodities have electrical and mechanical interface.
  • Experience with supplier management and negotiations.
  • Attitude to learn and teamwork.
  • Working knowledge of Engineering disciplines (P-diagram, DFMEA, DVP&R, etc.).
  • Comprehensive understanding of electrical Subsystem Design Specifications, Requirements, SW release processes, 6 eyes process.
