GCP Cloud SQL DBA/Consultant Specialist

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Consultant Specialist as a GCP Cloud SQL DBA. In this role, you will work with GCP services, including Cloud SQL (PostgreSQL) and BigQuery.

Responsibilities:

• Design and operate solutions across public cloud IaaS/PaaS/SaaS, primarily on GCP.
• Build and support CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab/GitHub, Nexus (or equivalent).
• Develop Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using Terraform (with Ansible as a plus).
• Work on Unix/Linux systems, including Bash scripting/programming.
• Write and maintain SQL scripts, preferably with BigQuery knowledge.
• Work effectively in an Agile/SCRUM environment and contribute across the SDLC.
• Apply cloud solution design patterns (e.g., microservices, messaging, distributed caching, containers, IAM).
• Communicate clearly, including presenting to clients and executive leadership; exposure to Grafana/Prometheus is a plus.

Requirements:

• Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade PostgreSQL on GCP Cloud SQL.
• Optimise performance by analysing slow queries, reviewing execution plans, and improving indexing, schema design, and DB parameters for throughput/latency.
• Design and manage high availability and disaster recovery, including replication, failover strategy, backup/restore, and DR testing with defined RTO/RPO.
• Implement proactive monitoring and alerting using Cloud Monitoring, Logs Explorer, and database metrics/alerts to prevent incidents.
• Enforce security and compliance best practices across IAM/privileges, encryption, auditing, network controls, and secrets management.
• Automate routine DBA activities through scripting and IaC (Terraform/Ansible), integrating with CI/CD pipelines.
• Lead capacity planning and cost optimisation by forecasting growth, right-sizing compute/storage, and improving cost efficiency across environments.
• Provide L2/L3 production support, including incident management, RCA, performance troubleshooting, release/change support, and collaboration with application, data engineering, and platform teams.
