Description

You will be part of Synopsys, the leader in engineering solutions from silicon to systems, enabling customers to rapidly innovate AI-powered products.

As a Staff Engineer in Software Engineering, you will help shape how the next generation of engineers learns to design circuits.

You have spent years building software that sits at the intersection of complex technical systems and user-facing intelligence, and you understand that the real challenge is not just making something work but making it usable for someone who does not yet know how it works.

Responsibilities

  • Develop AI Agents: Build autonomous, LLM-driven agents capable of schematic capture, component selection etc.
  • Architect EDA Pipelines: Integrate open-source or proprietary EDA tools with AI orchestration frameworks.
  • Optimize for Beginners: Design software abstractions that translate complex EE concepts into guardrails and suggestions for novice users.
  • Create Code & Circuit Generators: Develop systems that generate valid HDL (Verilog/VHDL), netlists, and circuit topologies from natural language.
  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work closely with AI researchers, UX designers, and EE experts to refine agent accuracy.

The Impact You Will Have

  • Enable beginner electrical engineers to design and simulate circuits with AI guidance, reducing the learning curve and accelerating their productivity.
  • Transform traditional EDA workflows into conversational, automated experiences that make complex design tasks accessible to non-experts.
  • Build software that generates production-quality HDL and netlists, reducing manual errors and design iteration time.
  • Create a foundation for AI-driven design automation that scales across Synopsys product lines and customer workflows.
  • Contribute to research and development that pushes the boundaries of what LLMs can do in technical, domain-specific applications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong proficiency in Python, C++, or TypeScript for building production-grade software systems.
  • Hands-on experience with LLMs, including fine-tuning, prompt engineering, and integrating large language models into software applications.
  • Familiarity with AI agentic frameworks and orchestration tools for building autonomous, decision-making software.
  • Understanding electronic design concepts such as schematic design, netlists, or SPICE simulation is a strong plus.
  • Experience with EDA tools or working closely with hardware design workflows is a strong plus.
  • Background in building developer tools, low-code/no-code platforms, or educational software is a plus.

Who You Are

  • You are comfortable explaining technical tradeoffs to non-engineers and translating domain expert feedback into actionable engineering work.
  • You have a point of view on what makes AI-generated output reliable and you know when to trust a model and when to add human-in-the-loop validation.
  • You move quickly without cutting corners, balancing speed with the rigor required for software that engineers depend on.
  • You are curious about domains outside your own and willing to learn enough electrical engineering to build tools that actually serve EE workflows.

Rewards and Benefits

We offer a comprehensive range of health, wellness, and financial benefits to cater to your needs. Your recruiter will provide more details about the salary range and benefits during the hiring process.
