Description

The Data Management Platform (DMP) in Bing Ads, part of Microsoft AI (MAI), is hiring a Principal Software Engineering Manager in Redmond, WA, or Mountain View, CA.

The DMP team is at the heart of user understanding for Microsoft Advertising, building and operating large-scale data pipelines, services that operate under low latency and high throughput, and providing APIs that enable identity resolution, user segmentation, targeting, and personalization.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership on identifying dependencies and incorporating them into design documents
  • Establish best practices for test strategies, including security testing and testable code design
  • Lead overall system architecture design for complex products
  • Oversee automation in production and deployment
  • Drive collaboration with partner teams to ensure end-to-end testing and scalability
  • Enforce security best practices, code invariants, and security code reviews
  • Ensure compliance with security, privacy, safety, and accessibility regulations
  • Lead development and reuse of software tools to support efficient engineering practices
  • Champion new coding standards and adoption of AI tooling
  • Promote continuous learning and skill development within teams
  • Manage project and release planning, resource management, and adherence to security and compliance
  • Guide experimentation using feature flags and telemetry
  • Oversee safe and optimized deployment practices
  • Drive people management by modeling leadership principles, coaching, and fostering growth
  • Establish and oversee telemetry, monitoring, and incident response processes
  • Lead live-site operations with standardized incident response
  • Provide technical and people leadership in code reviews
  • Oversee teams in producing maintainable, well-tested, secure, performant code
  • Develop best practices in debugging, incident retrospectives, and cost-effective problem resolution

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 12+ years technical engineering experience

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $142,800 – $274,800 per year.
