Description

In this position, you will be part of Ford Model E, which is responsible for developing key technologies for electric vehicles, such as EV platforms, batteries, e-motors, inverters, charging, and recycling.

As a Staff Powertrain Performance Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading range and performance studies for advanced electric vehicles
  • Planning workstreams to deliver range and performance targets for programs
  • Creating and modifying tools for range and performance prediction
  • Developing sensitivity analyses to understand design spaces and trade-offs
  • Hiring and leading a team of range and performance engineers
  • Creating vehicle-aligned component and system targets
  • Processing data and improving models with on-road vehicle usage data and homologation cycles
  • Leading design reviews, test plans, and requirements reviews
  • Enabling effective communications with subsystems and other engineering teams
  • Presenting concepts and status to senior management and company personnel
  • Supporting software-in-the-loop strategies and execution

To qualify, you will need:

  • A B.S. in Aerodynamics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
  • 7+ years of experience developing physics-based models and understanding vehicle performance
  • 1+ year of experience homologating and launching a new product
  • 2+ years of experience leading a team
  • High proficiency in Python, Matlab, Simulink, or Dymola

Preferred qualifications include:

  • A Master's or Ph.D. in Aerodynamics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related field
  • Experience with controls strategies for vehicle powertrain/dynamics systems
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Confluence, and Jira applications
  • Experience with instrumentation and measurement of homologation cycles
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

The salary range for this position is $146,520 - $276,600 per year.
