Description
In this position, you will be part of Ford Model E, which is responsible for developing key technologies for electric vehicles, such as EV platforms, batteries, e-motors, inverters, charging, and recycling.
As a Staff Powertrain Performance Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
- Leading range and performance studies for advanced electric vehicles
- Planning workstreams to deliver range and performance targets for programs
- Creating and modifying tools for range and performance prediction
- Developing sensitivity analyses to understand design spaces and trade-offs
- Hiring and leading a team of range and performance engineers
- Creating vehicle-aligned component and system targets
- Processing data and improving models with on-road vehicle usage data and homologation cycles
- Leading design reviews, test plans, and requirements reviews
- Enabling effective communications with subsystems and other engineering teams
- Presenting concepts and status to senior management and company personnel
- Supporting software-in-the-loop strategies and execution
To qualify, you will need:
- A B.S. in Aerodynamics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
- 7+ years of experience developing physics-based models and understanding vehicle performance
- 1+ year of experience homologating and launching a new product
- 2+ years of experience leading a team
- High proficiency in Python, Matlab, Simulink, or Dymola
Preferred qualifications include:
- A Master's or Ph.D. in Aerodynamics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related field
- Experience with controls strategies for vehicle powertrain/dynamics systems
- Experience with Microsoft Office, Confluence, and Jira applications
- Experience with instrumentation and measurement of homologation cycles
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
The salary range for this position is $146,520 - $276,600 per year.
