Member of Technical Staff - Applied AI Lead, Health

At Microsoft AI, our Health team aims to help millions of users better understand and manage their health and wellbeing.

We're seeking an Applied AI Lead to join our engineering team, focusing on building Copilot Health.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of Applied AI Engineers, fostering a collaborative environment.
• Set the technical direction for Applied AI in the health domain, remaining hands-on with code and design reviews.
• Co-own the roadmap with product leads, qualifying new opportunities and leading architecture and development.
• Plan and prioritize the team's roadmap, balancing shipping and learning with high-quality standards.

Set the Technical Direction on Evaluation and Orchestration

• Define the evaluation strategy for LLM capabilities in the health domain.
• Architect LLM orchestration, guiding the design of agentic, multi-step systems.
• Run experiments to improve results on internal and industry benchmarks.
• Invest in tooling to implement, run, and analyze evaluations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.
• Significant Python programming experience and machine learning research.
• Strong proficiency in LLM evaluations and orchestration.
• Proven engineering leadership with 8+ years of software engineering experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in healthcare technology or the health domain.
• Data engineering experience with text dataset sourcing and processing.
• Translating cutting-edge research into shipped products.
• Passionate about conversational AI and its deployment.

The typical base pay range for this role across the United Kingdom is £93,500.00 – £161,800.00 per year.
