Description
We are seeking a Junior Library Custodian to maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for our Library users and employees. As a Junior Library Custodian, you will be responsible for cleaning and maintaining the Library building and grounds, buffing, stripping, and waxing floors, shampooing carpets, replacing light bulbs, handling snow removal, preparing maintenance reports, and maintaining inventory of bathroom and cleaning supplies. You will also take necessary action to safeguard the building during an emergency and escalate issues to appropriate personnel. You will communicate with Library Manager on a regular basis to determine branch needs and travel between branches within assigned network.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clean and maintain the Library building and grounds
- Buff, strip, and wax floors
- Shampoo carpets
- Replace light bulbs
- Handle snow removal
- Prepare maintenance reports
- Maintain inventory of bathroom and cleaning supplies
- Take necessary action to safeguard the building during an emergency
- Communicate with Library Manager on a regular basis
- Travel between branches within assigned network
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Prior basic custodial/building superintendent work
- Valid driver's license and clear driving record
- Knowledge of material safety data sheets, safety practices, and procedures
- Good interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Demonstrated flexibility and reliability
- Ability to perform manual work consisting of cleaning, heavy lifting, snow removal, and working from high ladders, scaffolds, and electrical lifts
- Heavy lifting may be required
- Performs related duties as required
- Must pass physical exam
